Re: Location of Crank Sensor on 1.4 16v 100bhp engine

Thanks for your help guys, with a bit of luck we're homing in on a solution. I will take another look at the weekend and report back. As a side note the VW dealer said it was underneath the oil filter, which is completely non-sensical  . Then the second time I asked they said it was under the i...

Re: Location of Crank Sensor on 1.4 16v 100bhp engine

Had a fault code for it. Symptoms leading up to it are that the engine will die momentarily (i.e. no power and a jerk), the rev counter will drop to zero at the same time, and then it will all come back online and behave as normal again. I'm fairly sure that these symptoms are indicative of a failed...

Location of Crank Sensor on 1.4 16v 100bhp engine

Hi guys As title really, I have an intermittent fault with the crankshaft sensor on my car, thinking it could possibly be a loose or degraded connection, or if not I have a new sensor to fit anyway. I've had the undertray off but can't locate this sensor on the engine. Anyone know exactly where it i...

Re: 1.4 16v sport (100hp)

If you put a thicker oil in you may well notice a decrease in oil consumption but you may very well reduce the life of your engine! New engines are built to tighter tolerances, which means they're quiter, more efficient and last longer, but need thinner oils.

Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 (I think!) because I'm on the longlife service plan. Although I won't do more than 8,000 before the 2 years are up and it needs servicing again   .

My advice, obtain the sensors yourself from ebay/GSF or whatever, and get them fitted by and independant. My car had a failing crank sensor, VW wanted £60 to plug it into diagnostics, £51+vat for the sensor and £140+vat to fit it  I paid a local garage £10 to do a ecu scan, £20 for the sen...

If everyone said "I'll put my name down if enough other people put their name down" then there would never be any meets at all  Looks like this one isn't going to go off, so what does everyone think to joining up with another forum I'm on (ukfiestanetwork) who are having a meet in bri...

Put my name down. I go to uni in bath, but don't know the area that well so wouldn't be confident leading people round. The roads in the center of bath are a bit mental. I once drove the wrong way up a bus only road to be greeted by a double decker  If you have the meet further southwest, say t...

Sounds very strange, could be the friction material is breaking up or delaminating, or the springs that absorb vibration have broken :?
