1st thing i would do is give the car a good service, decoke and get the timing (including the dizzy timing) done, at least that way the engine is at a good starting point. as mentioned sensors can play havoc on old mk3 polos! however i have never known an spi engine to have trouble with the temp sen...

is it more of a rattly sound~?if it goes once the engine is warm then i would suggest that maybe the tappets are the cause, its common for older polos to get a bit noisy like that. my old 1 litre was the same. you can fix it by rebuilding the head or you can live with it and just make sure you use d...

hello im new on here to! 15s will go no probs with a set of 165/50s so long as offset is close to std (et38) and you dont go any wider than 7j. forget about putting a 1.8 8v in, its highly expensive and awkward to fit. a mk4 16v unit would be easier and give similar power, other options include gt, ...

the mk4 suffers badly with abs sensors going a bit gay! the sensor gets dirty and then this causes the abs light to come on. 2 options really. 1 fit new sensors or 2 clean the original ones. when i had a mk4 i found they were worse in the winter when it got wet etc, the time when abs is most useful!...
