Re: 1.4tdi loss of power rough idle.

It will not harm to change the fuel filter first. It could be a blocked DPF as I had a similar fault with a Astra cat a few years ago. It started and reved a bit but then when you tried to move it stalled. dropped the cat started it reved and moved fine. Replaced the cat and all was well. 1.4 TDI d...

16" BBS RX2 (RS771) 5x100 split rims

As per title, I've got a full set of genune BBS RX2 (as they're commonly known - stamp says RS771) split rims that originally came off a Mk4 Golf. These ideally need refurbishing (they have been done in the past, but not to a brilliant standard) or, use them as is for set of left-field winter wheels...

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

Well, considering I bought my 1.4 TDI in 2007 as a one / two year car (soon after passing my test) and still have it nearly nine years on, I'm not entirely sure I'll be handing my VAG card in any time soon! Life as a uni student ended, the recession hit, real life began and all of a sudden, having a...

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

It has been quite cold recently. Then again, 8 degrees in Cheltenham now feels 'pleasant'! The motor may well have done. Happy to scan with VCDS (presuming you have a 9n and not a 9n3 Hartge - my old version of VCDS is only good up till the 9n). Repairing / replacing the V68 is a piece of cake for m...

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

V154 may be truly knackered then. Are you sure you've got enough refrigerant and the rest of the A/C (compressor etc) is fine? V68 usually (not always) throws a fault code...

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

Apart from the code, is the V154 motor misbehaving per se? VCDS throws an error on mine, but the motor seems to work fine -recirculates when the button is pushed, fresh air when pushed again. The auto-recirc function works fine when reverse is engaged too. Regardless of any codes, If it ain't broke....

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

anyone in Oxfordshire want to do this for me? LOL Chuck in a bottle of Bombay Sapphire / Martin Miller, drive over to Gloucestershire or cover my fuel to Oxfordshire / back and I'll happily sort it out - I think I've got these down to minutes rather than hours now. Replacing the motor or attempting...

Look like an old set I made when I was using black / blue wiring back in the day, before running out of those colours!

Re: rear lights

Has anyone successfully used the looms from eBay (from Germany)? Before I started building adapters (don't really have the time to do so these days), I ordered some from Germany and they didn't work correctly without modification. They were set up for LHD cars which have different wiring. Would be i...

Re: Air con not working right? Replace the V68 motor - HOW TO.

Saw someone looking for this thread earlier and realised I hadn't posted my update from last 2014. The pikey fix worked twice and then failed again. I got fed up and found another flap motor for Golf Mk4 chassis cars, part number 1J2907511B0 brand new (NOS) for a tenner on eBay. Not sure what it was...

That 1.4 TDI will have a SMF, the exception being the 90PS version found in the Audi A2.

Re: NEED ADVICE! 1.9tdi brake uprgade!

Hubs (rather, hub carriers / 'knuckles') are different Alex. I have a set stored somewhere in my mum's garage, which I was (am?) intending to bolt on at some point. Current calliper carriers are part of the hub assembly. You'll need the assemblies off a 9n3 GTi or PD130 9n(3) / Ibiza Mk4 / Fabia VRS...

Re: 1.4TDI Bluemotion engine differences

You could 'downgrade' to a wastegate, but it gets a bit more complicated. You'll need that 'black box' that sits above the OSF strut from an AMF and will also need to reflash the ECU with an AMF file. I'd try and find a used VNT turbo for a 1.4 TDI and bolt that onto the AMF (direct fit), so it's pl...
