when to change timing belt?
When do I need to change the timing belt on my 2000 1.4 16v 101HP polo? Every 5 years, I get that, what about in miles? There's a sticker on the plastic cover over the front panel saying every 120.000 km (75.000 miles). Is that correct? I'm at 100.000 kms (62.000 m) past the last change. Do I have t...

Re: Leather steering wheel
I have it in leather also in my 16v 100hp. Your best bet is to get one off a gti though. Or take a trip to a leather master. Nothing is impossible, it just costs more

Re: Just bought a Polo MKV, Couple of Questions...
Needs tracking/alignment. And a pair of new tires also. Are they still original?foey wrote:- Both inner edges of the tyres are very low in comparison to the rest of the tyre, does this need tracking and wheel alignment? It also squeals at low speed round almost every roundabout!

Re: Exterior Door Handles.
the ones on the pictures are from a different car. For different handles the part of the door with the handle is cut out and welded onto your door. Too much work in my opinion. Just get them painted (color coded), or if you want something extra, search for the rear door handles (off a 5 dr) ->keyles...

Well, I sort of got used to it to tell you the truth. I just saw the post and thought I might give it a go. I'm not planning on taking the whole dash out at the moment either. Im just guessing but seems like a mount must be broken or something

No, I really mean my wiper stalk went. It somehow created contact between two positions and it melted and fused together so I had to replace it. I couldnt switch my wipers off, I had to take the fuse out

Re: brakes dilemma
Well, in the end I decided to go with TRW all-round: 4x discs & pads. Changed them on my own. The removal of the old components was a pain in the a$$ as I had to drill out 3 out of 4 bolts that hold the discs in place, rethread and then clean the hubs thoroughly of all the rust and dust  ....

Re: Wobbling Dash
Quick update, asked on another Polo forum and got the answer I needed. In case anyone else has similar issues - the 6N2 dashboard is held on with 4 x 13mm bolts on the inside of the bulkhead beneath the scuttle panel. There are 2 torx screws on the interior side (one on either side beneath the plas...

Re: Rear washer.
As Bradley mentioned, try with a pin/needle, might be just a glogged squirter. if it doesn't work try using one of those anti-limescale household agents (bref)
