when you speak to the mechanic ask them what they need to do because all you actually need to do is undo the screws in a certain order, remove cover, remove gasket, clean where gasket residue if any. Put new gasket onmake sure you haven't left anything in the engine, place cover on. Put screws in ...

i understand now...

But £200 - £500 for a rocker cover gasket change is stupid... i think you could do it yourself if you've got a touque wrench.

Next time try and explain yourself.. :)

hey i don't understand why you need this as yours is the 16v and you get gaskets.

But, on the 16v is the gasket went a whole new cover would be needed which would cost £120+.

Well my polo is 1996 P reg its the mk 4 1.4 16v.

The was from the main vw dealer in Woking... I did do a search last night for the part on other vw parts websites but they haven't got any, instead there selling the old replacment.

Something else i don't understand is, the cover only cost 15 ...

16v rocker cover gasket £40....

hey guys,

Just thought i would let you know that vw have redesigned the cover to take a rubber gasket, instead of the other one which is £120. Apparently the new parts are off the Mk4 golf/polo can't remember which.

The parts codes are:

036103475H - Rocker Cover - £14.74 + VAT
036103483D ...

finally woohw

i posted up a few weeks ago about my polo 1.4 16v, and today i finally had the luxury of driving it after a month and a half of owning it.

So if you didn't read the post the throttle body died + the dash pod + brake servo pipe + temp gauge. And the lucky cost of these part was just under £1000 ...

at the moment i want to make it faster, style it.
the list i gave was a guide line, i was going to look for a banged up GT and put the engine components into my polo.

Styling and tuning

I have a polo 1.3 CL, i would like to put a body kit on it, does anyone know a website.

a few other things:
Can i put engine components from a Polo GT into my Polo, with out messing around?

e.g Out/inlet manifolds, gearboxes, carbs, heads and so on...

How else can i improve my car e.g. tuning ...
