Re: Max offset's on a 9N
ET28 on a 9" would poke quite a lot. ET35 would give enough poke. You might even need a little camber (via camber plates) to get it to sit right. ET40 on a 9 would still look 'right'. I'd be tempted with 195/45, 205/45 with that setup. You'd still get stretch on the back but you'd have enough t...

Re: Is the polo reliable
I have a 2003 TDI SPort 1.9. I think it's pretty solid though the ventilation doesn't work right now. Need to replace the motors, a common fault and not cheap. In the above posts I notice someone saying they had the dash lights coming on etc. This happened with me, it behaves like a broken alternato...

Re: Max offset's on a 9N
If these are genuine Porsche rims then you'll need 5x100->5x130 adapters anyway. I think what David says above is spot on. With 9s I'd be tempted to poke a little at the back and go for 35mm adapters. 25mm adapters on the front though 30mm would also work. This all depends on how low you want to be....

Re: Anti Roll Bar thickness TDI Sport
My experience in the past is to add/stiffen rear ARBs to get the best balance.
For front wheel drive some people even remove the front when uprating the front struts/springs.

Re: Anti Roll Bar thickness TDI Sport
For the rears I've not heard a bad word said. All rave reviews.
Awesome GTI recommend them heavily too (and do them at a good price usually).

Re: 1.9 TDI Exhaust opinions!
I'm fairly sure it's actually a catalytic converter on the 1.9 TDI.
Only the later 16v 2.0 TDI engine (and only a select number of those ie. the 170bhp) has the DPF.

Re: Alloy Wheel Advice
205/40 17 would be the way to go for practicality. 35 series tyres don't offer much rim protection and a very stiff.
Much cheaper too so you can put the money towards coilovers.
I'm running 7.5x17 et32 s3 rims with 205/40 yokohamas. 10mm spacers at back (so et22)
Same size as the TT parabol wheels.

Re: Nico's Polo 9N3
Still not convinced but the pic helps - I liked your monoblocks tho.
9N/9N3s seem to suit porsche-like rims so this could work out.

Re: coilovers fitted!
I used to have 7.5x16 et45 audi wheels on it with 25mm adapters. ie. et20. Filled the arches at the back with just a little poke (195/45 Toyos). Fronts needed to be in 10mm. I now have et32 7.5x17s need 10mm at back really which I might do tomorrow as I have the spacers. Most wheels need some spacin...

Re: coilovers fitted!
Looks similar height to mine at the back. If I were you I'd use this over winter and lower in the spring by taking out the rear adjusters and tweaking the front accordingly. I suggest something like 15mm spacers at the rear too to make the wheels sit better.
