In what way is it illegal to have it venting to the atmosphere? We talking MOT fail?

Sounds more like traction control that - EDL should never 'bog it down' as it should never do anything other than brake one of the front wheels. Traction control on the other hand cuts the power to the engine.

I've never noticed mine 'bog down'. You shouldn't even trigger EDL in a straight line ...

If it's under warranty, I'd get VW to fix it. Speaker wiring issues can be easy or hard, depending on where the break is. It sounds like it's probably just a loose connector at the speaker end, but why knock yourself out when you've got a warranty? ;)

Early low-spec Lupos and Polos have both mirrors small, the higher spec get the larger drivers-side mirror with the wide angle bit at the edge.

Read my post above about EDL - Electronic Differential Lock. When it brakes the spinning wheel, it makes a grinding sound very similar to ABS - you can feel the brake pedal vibrating as it does it (if you left-foot brake/heel and toe)

Is the breather pipe the small one that connects to the left side of the airbox, and just pulls off?

How have you made it vent to the atmosphere? Just left it floating around, or what? Presumably I could do this with the standard airbox (BMC funds a bit low currently!)

All done. Picked up a carb cleaner that claimed it was safe on plastics/rubber - better safe than sorry!

It's weird, on my Mk5 Polo 1.4 75bhp, I could honestly not notice any performance decrease with having the aircon on or off, and I used to flog that car to an inch of its life.

On the Lupo GTI, it's hugely noticeable whether it's on or off, even when you drive the car normally.

Can anyone tell me where the throttle body is on a 1.6GTI engine, how to get to it, and how to clean it?

As you might have guessed, I'm not exactly familiar with the contents of the engine bay, so simple instructions would be great! And pictures would be even better!
