Yeh it is the OEM Sony. The problem is I can't get the key down the side of the unit. On the Alpine I had in my Golf, the trim came off the HU and you could easily see where to put the keys. On this one there is no clue at all.

May give the footwell technique a try.

Ugh - it's the key! Had a copy made didn't realize it had an immob on it. How much will one cost from VW?

Hadn't thought about the immobiliser idea. Do all MKIV's have immobilisers? How would I correct it? I guess it would mean a visit to Mr VW and that no doubt would be costly...
