Re: LED Sidelights.

See, I've always had a problem with LED side lights on my Polo. I've tried several sets and none of them ever work. The normal side lights work just fine so I know it's not a connection problem. The LED versions slot nicely in with the connectors connecting where they should but when I turn the side...

Re: Question for 0-100kmph

Ahhh! I remember being able to get to 75mph in second gear in my old Mi16 Pug before it hit the limiter.... possibly why I blew a couple of gearboxes  Even my VR6 Corrado would only reach 70mph in second just as it touched the red line. I don't think I would want to do that to my Polo even if ...

Re: Engine mount failure

Well the guy who sold me the mount said it is quite a common problem, just not as common as the pedal box and gearbox. I've never heard of it before though.

Re: Engine mount failure

Good to hear it went on ok. Yeah, my car feels like new now. Almost too quiet! It makes you wonder if something is suddenly gonna go BANG!

Re: Engine mount failure

Not good! I was missing one bolt but it made no odds seeing as the mount was no longer attached anyway.
Did the new one go on ok?

My 'other' car

Hey guys, I'm yet to take some decent photos of my GTi so I thought I share a few pics of my 'other' ride. It's a 1961 Ragtop Beetle that I restored on my driveway. Currently running a 1600cc engine but the 2.0L is sitting on the bench waiting for a pair of heads. Other than that I just get out and ...

Re: Engine mount failure

Cool. Yep that sounds about right for that bit. The bit it bolts too (that is bolted to the gearbox) was another £40 or so. I decided to buy both bits just to be sure but in all honesty the gearbox bit was totally fine. Hope the install goes ok! :)

Re: Engine mount failure

Wow thats the first one Ive seen go like that. Im presuming thats the right hand side mount (gearbox side)? Yeah it was the gearbox side. :) Is there any evidence of any other crash damage on the car? I would be willing to suggest that the car had a front end nudge at some point which cracked the e...

Re: Engine mount failure

Your not the only one out there, my right hand side mount is creaking like a *****. Need to order one. How much was yours? Was it from the stealers? How did you remove and fit it? It was £64 for the top part but I ordered the bottom bit too just to be sure which was another £40. Both from the steal...

Engine mount failure

Hey guys. Had a bit of a problem with the GTi last weekend. It developed this horrible creaking noise which I suspected to be the bottom mount. I checked it all out and it seemed to be ok. The car felt fine but I wasn't happy with the noise so decided to look further. I tightened a few things up and...

6n2 GTi CV Joints

Hey guys, Think it's time do do a cv replacement on the GTi. There is an awfull clunking noise that I get on accelerating and a bit of a vibration to go with it. It clunks on every rotation under load but it isn't there when the car is jacked up. However there is a bit of play on the inner CV when I...

Re: Fuel pressure on GTi

Just to put an end to this thread, I finally found the answer to the pressure issue. As suggested it wasn't pressure escaping but rather air being sucked into the tank when opening the cap. It was so fast it even whistled a bit. Anyway, on inspection, the return breather from the charcoal canister t...

Re: Longest lasting gearbox?

Ok, I've hit the 100,000 mile mark (doh) and the box is still going. The whine hasn't got any worse since my last post so you never know it might have a bit more life in it yet :D
