Own a 54 reg motor with the above engine.
Does anyone know if VW came up with any modifications or change in workshop procedure to combat the possibility of the cam timing slipping and the associated damage ? .

Surfing the associated forums ( Seat and Skoda ) there seems to be a little bit of a history of some of these engines suffering from the cam timing slipping causing various levels of damage. It appears that the cam chain sprockets only bolt to the camshafts without any positive loaction. I have a 54 ...
