yea i was thinkin that also,its overheated alot of times.
done about 40miles now,and the coolant level had not seemed to have changed,since the say i flushed the system. so thats looks good,so ill guess time will tell.

cheers for the offer rameshsingh,but i've got plenty of the stuff in the garage lol.

ok so i finally got around to fitting my new thermostat and housing.
i had a look at the old one,and inside,it was all bubbled up,and there was a large rod/needle going through one end and coming out the other ...

Update:
ok guys i didnt get around to fitting a new thermostat,or housing,but i took the existing one out,and the heater,along with the bottom hose,were hot after a while,whereas before with the thermostat in the bottom hose was stone cold.

so,im hoping this was the issue all along,so im going to ...

this week im going to fit a new thermostat and housing myself,altho the garage guy said he did(only after i asked him),i dont believe him,and its only £40 or so.
if that fails goodbye polo as i cant be arsed to pay for a new head.

very helpful
when i get time im gona get another garage to look at it.
i didnt get mayo in the end,it was a melted leaf/flower petal,that found its way under the bonnet,and the water/coolant made it look like mayo.

when left idle in my drive for about 10-15mins i get a lil bit ...

yea thats what i was thinking,a shame.
hes not sure if it is the head,but he thinks the water is not flowing through the system,how it should be,and had checked everything else.

so can heads still fail,even after a compression test goes well?how accurate and what does this test involve?

update
ok its a suspected blown head.

flushed system,checked blocked radiator,and changed all the above.
he done a compression test,that went all good,but he still suspects a cracked head,as he has tried everything else,including a new thermostat housing.

he said he drove it for about 10miles ...

yea i think ill hold onto it abit longer

hopefully it is just air,the stupid mechanic cant get the timing belt back on,hes having major difilculty.hopefuly he gets that done,and can see why its overheating

cheers for the reply appreciate your advice.

not sure what coolant the mechanic is using if any,but i doubt he drove it around without any in there right?

he said he was gona fit the timing belt,as he had to get the timing marks done,as it wasnt matching up??

also when the coolant boiled over ...

ok its still overheating :evil:
the garaged phoned me up and said its still having overheating problems
have changed the waterpump,thermostat,camblet and fanswitch,he said that the timing belt was alittle bit out and he was gonna sort that,but he wasnt sure thats was causing it to overheat.

getting the waterpump and camblet changed,costing me £180 :(
im starting to think these polos aint as reliable as i first thought,had nothing but problems since day one,time to get rid i think.

ok guys thought id bump this as theres been new developments

so i changed the thermostat about 4 weeks ago,and flushed the system and topped up with coolant,it was running fine,however i did find that my coolant level was slowly going down day by day.

so today,the car overheats 110+ and the ...

i put some more in there this morning,and the coolant stays in there,i reved it abit to get the temp up,light started flashing then the coolant disappeared.

i touched the two hoses the top one was hot,and the bottom one was alot cooler.

checked the pipes/hoses no signs of any leaks altho quite ...
