Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

OK, I’ll add another update to this thread in case anyone else has similar problems to me in the future. It’s now been almost a month since I last drove my car!!! I am getting really frustrated but have been in touch back and forth with the garage again the last two days. They fitted a new, correct ...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

Right, here’s a bit of an update on my car. It has been in the garage for the last two weeks now, I haven’t seen it at all since it went in for them to check that rattley sound that was coming from the transmission area. The mechanic explained that he couldn’t hear the noise :? !?! But said he ...

Re: whining gearbox.......

Yea, I wouldn't worry too much about the noises either. The gearbox is just a bit on the loud side I guess... I was in my brother's S2000 and the gearbox is whistley and whiney on that and its defeinitely not on its way out.

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

The garage looked at my car today. Said they couldn't hear anything?! :? Anyway, the fitted the new cambelt ket and waterpump. Then I had a phonecall about 3:30, after I'd left work early to go pick the car up, telling me one of the "gearbox seals had gone" and it was leaking oil. They won't have ...

Re: Alloy Wheels, Recomendations

I know they're not really anything like those OEM Golf GT wheels you posted, but Flatcap Borbet As look the absolute nuts on a 6n2 IMO!!

EDIT: They're 16x7 usually but you cna get them wider!

EDIT AGAIN: Just noticed your "No deep dishes plz" comment! ARGH, Sorry!!

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

It doesn't so much sound like screeching or grinding... More like a set of keys rattling around inside the engine, from the bottom left. I noticed it happens when stationary, but also when moving in 1st and 2nd gears. So weird that it's happening since the box got a full recon and a brand new SACHS ...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

Just spoke to the mechanic that installed the box and clutch. I explained the noise and said it might be the release bearing and he basically poo-poo'd that saying it was all new and it couldn't be that. He said "the bearings might be a bit dry" :?: That sounds a bit weird, but I just took his word ...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

I do them properly or not at all.
Probably the best way really! Sometimes it's not always possible though given limited resources and limited finances! haha

do you find when you depress the clutch the noise goes, and when you release it comes back? cos thats what mines doing lol.
Sorry, totally ...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

Cheers MeTsU! Thanks for that - is it necessary though? I read somewhere about simply disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds, then switching the ignition on to "reset" or "realign" the thing? Maybe I'm just confused...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

This is the plan: Off up the garage tomorrow to get the clutch fixed. Tuesday hopefully have a bash at the throttle body. Then when my VAGCOM cable arrives I'll have a look to see what fault codes it pukes out, then I can go from there I guess.

Also, what's a TB Adaptation? :)

I'll keep updated ...

Re: Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

Yea, it's a proper pain in the rear!!

I think I'm gonna take it back up the garage... They're gearbox specialists so hopefully they can just take a second look and fix it up.

The car was so fun to drive when I first had it, it still is when it's going fine. But it just keeps getting niggles. I've ...

Two Questions (I. Throttle body; II. Rattley Clutch!)

Hi

I have just, in the last two days, had my car back from the garage following a full recon of the box and a new SACHS clutch. The gearbox had been on it's way our for ages, really affecting performance. I also installed new leads and a new ignition coil as the car was losing power now and again ...
