Before spending loads of money on replacing parts, go buy a can of carb cleaner (less than a fiver) and a find a nice clean rag. Have the airbox off and give the throttle body a good clean out.

If that doesnt improve things, get it on VAG-COM if possible to see if there any fault codes

Ive been looking for a good long while now. Think I might just modify the ones for the 'Innie' grille to fit.

My 895cc got driven 250 miles a week without a hickup (fairly hard driving for that tiny engine on quick and terribly surfaced North Yorkshires roads too!)

If you are going to use it for a daily, and you get it cheap, spend that extra bit getting a cambelt done for peace of mind - if its not been ...

Why does it need a new barrel? Something snapped in it, or does it have electrical gremlins?

If its the latter, i'd be more worried. But Mk1s are simple things, how hard can it be? 8)

You dont see many Mk1s on 15s because they tend to look very big in the arches, but Im sort of planning on putting some 15s on mine.

Tyre choice is key, and I dont think anything wider than a 7" wheel will go.

Whatever you decide on... pics please!

I dont think it would be a shame to get the arches professionally and cleanly rolled - if its done properly, you wouldnt be able to tell unless you had your head in the arch and it wouldnt be prone to rusting or anything.

Its probably worth investigating some bigger bumpstops and stiffer springs ...
