Well, I called the first garage this morning, the VW and Audi Specialist centre near stroud, and although, they said they would do it, they told me that realistically it wouldn't be worth it. He said that off the top of his head it would probably cost past the 2 thousand mark!!!! Not including the c...

Haha, I'll think about it! Although, the brakes are the last thing on my mind at the moment. I'm gona call some garages tomorrow and ask for some quotes. See how much they'll charge to install the gearbox ecu clocks and engine. I just hope they don't brush me off straight away! Any suggestion...

Cool, so I guess I'll leave the brakes till later or get them done if I have any pennies to spare :D . Now, I don't have a drive cos I'm not at home and I wouldn't be able to get hold of one of those engine lifters anyway. I don't see any other option than to take it to a garage. Any suggestions abo...

That's the thing though, apparently theren't any when it comes to the gti engine. Since its from the same model, everything seems to just fit into place. The only hassle, I think, is when it comes to changing the wiring loom. But I need somebody to confim that. You're right though, if it's too much ...

2.5 grand!!!!! Are you serious??? I didn't think it would come to that much. I've heard I can get all the parts for about 700 quid without the rear gti axles. They wouldn't charge that much to fit the whole thing would they? I was thinking maybe another 700 quid fitting? No?

I forgot to say, I'm not thinking of putting a 1.8t or anything like that, just a gti engine!!! Nothing special ... I know ... but its definately better then the piece of useless turd I have sitting outside!

I'll probably get the rear brake conversion done at the same time, or shortly after.

Need info on doing a GTI engine conversion

I know it seems like a pretty repeated subject around this forum, and more than often whoever suggests it gets shrugged off for complicating things instead of just getting the whole car. However.... I think I do have a good point, when I say that my car is f*****d. The engine has pretty much reached...

Definately an excellent post. 8) I was thinking of debadging my polo and getting rid of the boot lock altogether and fill it all. I suppose I could use the same procedure as you did. I was a bit dubious about the whole do it yourself thing, and was gona take it to a garage. But I think I might give ...

[A 1.8T conversion from start to finish, i've been told costs 5K :!: Still a bit steep tho! I just want a faster engine!!! :( I'm tired of going around feeling like the thing just won't go! How much would it be to fit a gti engine tho?? It can't be that expensive! I can probably get one for...

I thinking of doing the same thing, but I'm just not sure how to go about it. And what the cost of labour would be. A 1.8T would be better, but I can only imagine how much more the cost would be!!!!!

Golf/Passat Steering wheel on an MK5

I'm thinking of changing the steering wheel on my MK5 polo to one off a golf or passat. Does anybody know if this can be done??

I've heard that PIAA are really good, but they're not legal. They state to produce much more than they draw. Does this mean that the temperature in the headlight housing will increase much. Since i've changed my headlights, I now have plastic lenses. Will they hack it??

Well, I've always had 80W bulbs on the car. They have a nice blue colour to them. Do you think it could have been that???

What bulbs should I put on then?? I hate the yellow colour on headlights!

P.S. Nice wheels!!
