14" steels / cheap alloys
Hi guys, I'm looking for a set of 14" wheels - don't need tyres particularly although that's a bonus if they're there already. Just looking for a really cheap set, it's actually for a Skoda that I'm taking on the Mongol Rally next year (approx. same wheel fitments as old 4 stud VWs if I remembe...

Changing locks
Hi all, The drivers door lock on my polo has broken. Turn the key and it doesn't turn the mechanism. Until today I've been able to get in still because the central locking still works, so the pump opens the lock, but now even that seems to have gone - I think the switch has just shifted out of posit...

I'll try the breather pipe! As everyone knows i've practically replaced everything associated with the issue! Changed the Temp Sender 3 weeks ago and its slightly worse then the original one. So now all I have left is the idle control valve to change. A new one costs about £300 si i'm on the look ...

Cheers for that :) I actually gave up in the end and got my mechanic to do it for me this morning. He realigned the clutch because he reckoned I had it slightly off, and then he said to mount it you need to fit it with the diff at the bottom and then rotate it 90 degrees, because otherwise the drive...

On the back of the engine block there's a dome shaped lump of metal, attached to which is a rubber pipe which runs up to the air filter housing. This dome is an oil separator, it's designed to separate oil from gas within the engine block to allow the gas to be fed up to the carburettor and re-burnt...

Halfords has a sample chart to take to the car, unfortunately I can't take the car to halfords, and their paint mixing system does not list pistaccio green. :( Just take the piece of trim which is meant to cover the towing eye socket on the bumper into halfords and get them to match that - you can ...

Clutch change problems
Hi guys, Just copying this head from the engines/powertrains section - just after a quickish response and I know less people check the sections lower down the list ;) Anyway, here goes: Long time since I've been on uk-polos :D I'm having some troubles changing the clutch on my polo - it's a 6n 1.4 8...

I know this is very late, but in case it's still of any use to you or anyone else thinking about doing this, the engine will not fit and the gearbox will not mate up to it. The 1.6/1.8 engines are tall blocks whereas the 1.05/1.3 units in the polo are short blocks. Hence the short blocks and the lon...
