I was a bit concerned about the cut-in time of my fan. I did a coolant change using two bottles worth of G12+, flushed the system and bled it at the heater matrix, yet the fan now only seems to cut in at around 95-97. Does seem a tad high, but once it does get going it can make a good job of knockin...

With the Mark2 and 3, essentially sharing a lot of components, I would say that the gearbox should go on without too much of an issue, afterall, the later Mark2 Polo engines went on to be used in the Mark3 in fuel injected guise. If you can get hold of 86C on here or Club Polo, hes the man to speak ...

You can fit a 5 speed box without any issues, however, as hardhitter mentioned you may need to change the linkage and ARB to accomodate it.

One code of gearbox you could use (code stamped on bellhousing) is AYZ (I think) metz had this gearbox mated to his 1ltr saloon.

The complete G40 set-up WILL go under GT steels (I'm running that exact same brake and wheel combo (winter wheels)). Tyres, only issue will be your speedo. You could get 175/60s (which was the tyre size offered on the G40), little wider, and lower profile, and the Yokos are available in that size to...

9"s!

With a 70mm drop, you're definitely gonna need something doing with the arches, defintely need rolling and possibly flaring to keep the long arm of the law off your case.

If you're after an example of the torque and power delivery from a stock CL, click the 'Tried and Tested' part of my sig. That printout was from a run at Aldon Automotive for the last Club polo RR day. The car at that point just had a universal cone filter with Passat 1.8 airbox on it (I can't see t...
