Re: Show me your head unit

Its easy enough to fit. The dab aerial is the most fiddly part as it has to be fitted in a certain manner

I can guide you through it fairly easily. Just need to be comfortable with a few wires to connect and some trims to remove

Re: Show me your head unit

Ive had a few different ones

Currently got a Pioneer SPH-DA130DAB. Had a SPH-DA120 before that. Both are excellent, the 130 just has DAB and a better interface with buttons rather than touch panel

If you want to use the radio, youll need to plug the aerial into the back of the unit.

Re: Polo 1.0 Gearbox Part Number (6N i think)

Genuine VW gearbox oil would be my first recommendation. Itll be 75W90. Castrol SynTrans is very good, as are the Febi alternatives.

Re: Polo 1.0 Gearbox Part Number (6N i think)

The easiest test fix would be to have the gearbox oil changed. If that doesnt fix it, then unfortunately its either a gearbox rebuild or replacement

Re: Polo 1.0 Gearbox Part Number (6N i think)

Thats a rod shift :) Now just a case of finding one. If you look in the sticker under the boot carpet, the gearbox code is on that. Post me up a picture and ill tell you what it is

Re: Polo 1.0 Gearbox Part Number (6N i think)

I would say thats likely a gearbox issue then from the sounds of it. You have a 6N, likely a run out model Can you see if you can look down the back of the engine at the gearbox? Ideally a photo underneath where the coolant bottle is looking down onto the shift mechanism will help work out which box...

Re: Show me your head unit

Yes identical, bar the face the 9N3 uses quadlock and the 9N is ISO plugs, and theres a changeover on the aerial from ISO to Fakra.

Standard double din opening without any extra fascia trims specific to the car

Re: Polo 1.0 Gearbox Part Number (6N i think)

Hi Tom

Is this a facelift 6N2 or an earlier 6N - two very different gearboxes. Also if its a 99 you are on the cusp of the change between rod and cable shift so youd need to see whats fitted

Whats the issue with the gearbox?

Dealers did used to stock these, but they are getting hard to find now

Sometimes they turn up on ebay so its worth a look

Re: MOT fail (position/fog lamp, brakes, emissions)

Seems like a fair bit. Cam tensioner may not be working correctly. Yes if the timing was a tooth out, that could cause an overfuel scenario

Re: MOT fail (position/fog lamp, brakes, emissions)

It’s still overfuelling then. This makes little sense

Have you got a faulty injector I wonder thanks flooding the engine with fuel? You said the exhaust fumes smell noticeably fuel ly?
