Re: Electric Window and door mirror switches reversed...
Has the problem just started or was it always like that? Older Polos do on occasion have electrical gremlins. I've had similar on my 2002. If it doesn't clear an ECU reset (disconnecting the battery for a while) might be worth a try. If it's gremlins it might well clear itself (until next time).

Hello and welcome.
What is the odometer reading?
Remember to keep on top of oil changes using the correct grade/specification.

Bangernomics (transmission clunk) 9n 1.4 BBY Auto
Since 50K had an intermittent/occasional problem with clunking transmission shift when slowing down and then setting off again. Recently, at 109K, this has become more of an issue. OH mentioned that when pulling away in first (engine warm or cold) on several occasions shift from 1 to 2 has been very...

Re: 9n head unit swap
Has anyone replaced the roof antenna with an external/roof mounted DAB antenna? Just wondering how easy it is to route the wires through the headlining, down the screen, etc.

Re: 9n head unit swap
I read that the OEM stereo provides power to the "bee sting" antenna on the roof. Does anyone have experience in powering the antenna after swapping the stereo for a non-OEM unit?

Re: Egr valve
Assuming you read an error code that specifically indicated an EGR problem?
You need VAG software tools to reset the EGR after replacement.

It's easy to see the fluid level in the power steering reservoir while you have the bumper off too.

9n head unit swap
I'm searching for a single DIN unit to swap out the original tape deck on my 2002 Polo. Considering one of the MechLess units (i.e. no CD player) with Bluetooth, SDCard, MP3, phone support, etc. Any suggestions please for a product that can quickly and easily be installed? Basically I want to be abl...

Re: High CO2 emissions
Difficult to say what is the root cause of the emissions issues without knowing the history of the engine and its maintenance. At that mileage it could start to be problematic depending on its history. As an example, I swapped the head assembly on a 1.4 BBY around 90K miles for a head assembly that ...

The engine noise is now quieter on fresh Shell Helix 5W40 also aided by the fleeting mild weather and higher ambient temps.

2002 1.4 BBY Auto - Transmission snatch/clunk
Occasionally, when slowing down to a crawl at very low speed and then taking off again the transmission snatches. This has happened to the other driver in the household several times. Yesterday I pulled up at some traffic lights and when starting off experienced the same. I'd say it occurs more ofte...

Leaking front washer feed pipe
The corrugated feedpipe has sprung a leak just where it passes from the scuttle to the bonnet edge. On the upside, the jet is pointing at the screen. I guess a plain plastic tube would kink at this point and something like the existing kinked pipe is needed. Is anything available to repair it or sho...

Switched from Fuchs 5W40 to Shell Helix 5W40 1.4 BBY 2002
I have been changing the engine oil every 6 months due to short journeys and since it was sounding a bit tappety proceeded with the scheduled change today. I found a deal on Shell 5W40, which I have used before, so decided to give it another go. If I recall correctly it does not quiet the tappet noi...

Re: Rear wiper blade
Just a quick update on this saga with the rear wiper motor. Checked the replacement unit on the bench again - it's not working. Wired up a line from the battery to the existing motor and jumped the relay. Not working. Checked voltage at terminal 4 and 12V is present. It has to be the motor(s). Order...

Agree with the above comment. It's a reliable slug for commuting. Not worth the time and effort to try and increase performance.
