Re: Paint protection

Your Local Detailer should advise you that you shouldn't use shampoos containing wax on your Gyeon (very good stuff, you'll love it). Although my question is why use waterless wash? I tried it once, but threw it out after one panel as it scratched it. I hadn't realised I was to avoid shampoos with ...

Re: Paint protection

As a new owner I booked my car into the local vehicle detailer (actually took it in this morning). They wash it properly, clay bar it and will apply a ceramic coating (Gyeon - Q2 Mohs). Not cheap but it does provide a first layer of protection which is easy to clean. I had my last car prepared the ...

Re: Sat Nav

My question is why spend money on a new unit, when you can use the Apple carplay? Why not instead teach your daughter to be responsible ( I'm sure she already is, I don't mean anything by that) and not touch the phone while driving. I've no experience with that generation of polo as I have the 2014 ...

Re: Paint protection

I ceramic coated my car 2 years ago with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and Exo V2 (now revised to v4), and it looks still as good as it did after polishing it 2 years ago, with I'd say very very few scratches have been incurred, It's good for 5 years. I also wash weekly. I agree with SRGTD, the most ...

Re: Alloy wheels upgrade ?

Thanks for the info Dink. I’m not really into the modding scene - I’m too old for that now 😄 (retired), so I’ll stick with the standard suspension set up. The only changes I tend to make to a car’s factory build is to change the wheels if the car comes with diamond cut alloys, as I dislike diamond ...

Re: Alloy wheels upgrade ?

There's no real pros or cons list for changing alloys, it will change your speedometer by going up a size ( Personally I haven't had any issues with it ) and if you're going to paint wheels black why get 17 inch alloys? Black doesn't show the shape of alloys, so in my opinion you might as well run s...

Re: Will a Skoda extinguisher bracket fit under Polo seats?

cheba, I know all about Diesel I was just making derogatory comments about it jokingly as iichel's car is a TDI, that is all. By the way, I don't advise it, but you can extinguish a lit cigarette by dropping it into a container of petrol most of the time, though some people might just get it wrong!...

Re: Anything else worth servicing?

Okay, so probably engine code BXW, I think that the "FSI" got dropped years before that engine was built by the way. Nothing else gets changed normally at year 4 major service. The cambelt kit on these engines normally gets changed at 5 years, not at 4 years as it was with much earlier ve...

Will need to check the engine code, but it's the 2007-2014 1.4 FSI 85bhp, with 42k on it.

Re: Does a Water pump replacement also need timing belt done?

Go independent garage for it and provide your own genuine vw parts, the belt is about £78 and the pump £32 from TPS. Thanks Willni - I was getting quotes from independent garages anyway, but this will help I'm going down on Thursday to get service parts on Thursday, so I'll give you proper prices t...
