Re: Polo 6C 1.2 TSI dogbone mount

Something in my brain(??) makes me think that I've read that TDI dogleg mounting assembly is not the same as the TSI one, but, all you need to do, is to remove the alloy arm with the stiffer bushing from the new TDI dogleg mounting and swop it with the one currently on your TSI dogleg mounting.

Re: Where to find Radio code?

In general, I think that these “code providers” only, for VW Group cars, work for older possibly Philips manufactured, radios supplied to VW Group. I think that the 2 ways of sorting out the code of a radio from a 2007 car, is either by having the code that came with the radio - but that only works ...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

That VW Group version of brake fluid is low viscosity version of DOT4, I think that the situation is, there is only currently “DOT4” as a way to classify this brake fluid, ie its generic spec. When ESP etc came along, it became apparent that it would be beneficial to lower the viscosity - but it see...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

The much longer sockets (250mm long) do a fantastic job of refitting the plugs. No wiggling and guessing. They also have a magnet instead of rubber plug retainer. I've had those retainers pull out of the socket before, but that was no problem on older engines with more accessible plugs. But either ...

Re: Ignition coil puller comparison

I used my coil remover, similar to the first picture, where you grip the coil via the securing bolt hole by expanding the end of that design of tool, on a 2.0TSI EA888, first spark plug for that car, and it worked very well. I've also got a very long spark plug socket that has magnets to hold the sp...

Re: Crank but no start

It's very easy to to guess, I shouldn't I know, but, as you have considered, there will be a large +ve and a large -ve supply and return for the pump motor, and the typical fuel level device will be a resistor with a moveable (wiper) contact, so could explain the 3 smaller contacts. So, I'd expect a...

Re: Significant side-to-side movement of handbrake on 2016 Polo

For the silicon paste to apply around the lower end of the coil connector, I've just bought normal dielectric grease, strangely described as "tune up" grease, it tends to come in small tubes, though it should last a few years with spark plug changes at 4 years on my wife's Polo, older daug...

Re: Significant side-to-side movement of handbrake on 2016 Polo

I agree that seeing these parts, which tend only to be dashboard stiffeners, with surface rusting is annoying, why the welding sites could not have been cleaned up and these parts have their top coating/treatment carried out AFTER the welding>cleaning is an unanswered question, though as said alread...

Re: Fuel filter for 2016 Polo + bleeding fuel line

I'd think that the first thing to do is to check that a petrol filter has been fitted to your Polo, from memory, it should be on the RHS near the point where the rear wheel is. VW Group started leaving out these petrol filters at some point in production of this version of Polo, well at least in Eur...

Re: 2011 1.2 12v Polo camshafts

I'd think that what you are describing is normal, do you not remember what the profile/shape of the cam lobs look like, ie they are circular for quite a lot of their "time" then rise quickly to a short peak then fall away quickly - so you will be "feeling" this as a change in eff...

Re: Oil in the spare tyre compartment?

I had an issue with oil in the boot of my previous car, a VW Passat 4Motion, first noticed it when on a long trip down from Scotland to the South end of England. We stopped for fuel etc and I opened the boot and there was a strong smell of engine oil - but fresh unused engine oil! It had come out of...

Re: Battery light on, slow to start charging.

Maybe try unplugging the small connector from the battery module - this will always inhibit auto Stop, but with it disconnected you will be able to "see" if it changes the charging behaviour from engine start. Really just in a bid to dismiss or consider it is the battery module that is fau...

Yes, but I'll try to continue thinking that that is okay in my wife's 2015 VW Polo so the leak must be somewhere more convenient to deal with, I'm probably living in denial!

Re: VW polo 2013 not got a remote key?

Oh yes, I agree, but many people having a 10 year old car only want to get that function as cheaply and easily as possible when, as in this case, it sounds like the OP is not really a "car person", just the way things can be,

Re: VW polo 2013 not got a remote key?

I was considering that @hp23 was asking about being able to buy an aftermarket kit to allow a central locking car to become a remote central locking car - and not doing what you or I might want to do, ie change to remote central locking by retro fitting VW Group parts to end up like it might have co...
