Re: Mute button
Thanks SRGTD. A backward step indeed. A strange oversight considering the modern technology in the car. Mind you at least we still have buttons unlike mk 8 golf! I can't check now my Polo is long gone, but if you have a phone button (with no phone connected) or a voice control button on the right h...

Re: GTi+ Fogging
I had a Mk5 Golf, 3 Golf Mk7's, a Seat Leon (a Golf under diffrerent clothes) and now a Golf Mk8 and ALL 'featured' being slow to demist'. Play with heater, demist and air-con settings to one's heart's comtent, all cars still took / take their own sweet time to 'defog', say 2 - 3 miles, in order to...

Re: Coolant level warning message
Hi there, I started the car this evening and had a coolant level low message, images included https://ibb.co/C6zjjRc Is it normal for a car with 44k miles to require a top up? I’ve checked the level and it looks like it’s 2 or 3cm below the low level line on the reservoir. You might've just had a l...

Re: Intake valve cleaning
Not a bother on the GTI engine as that does have port injectors to wash the backs of the valves with petrol vapour. Now I'm torn becuase the mechanic said it didn't have port injectors to wash the backs of the valves but there we go I guess... Vehicle still under warranty so if it occurs again stil...

Re: Genuine Wireless Charger RetroFitted
Nice idea. and job I'd like to have a phone that charges wirelessly first, though. No benefit to me.. I wonder though if I had a more modern phone (I only buy android phones) whether you would still need tethering for the maps etc? just curious.. no rush for me I'm at least a year from replac...

Re: POLO GTI+ | Police Trouble
I've only ever been pulled over twice: 1. I was pulled for accelerating too hard up a sliproad to join the motorway. I did say that I was just trying to join the 70mph road at 70mph and the Policeman admitted that he wanted a look at my car as he'd not seen one before - it was one of the first of th...

Re: How far can I go after range gets to 0 miles? (1.0 TSi)
Why let your petrol get that low in the first place? When the tank is near on empty, and during the warm days and cold nights, this can form condensation, and the more surface area exposed, the more condensation can form. Water and engines don't mix very well. There are many people who say "wh...

Retired man that does bugger-all mileage can't understand why someone would have an empty tank in a fuel shortage.
Imagine that.

Re: Genuine Wireless Charger RetroFitted
How effective do you find wireless charging? I have it as standard on my ID3 and it's next to useless. My phone is a Galaxy S10 and I'm pretty sure having any kind of case attached seriously stifles the charging. On the ID3, the phone fits inside a diagonal slot in the central console where you'd no...

Re: Insurance accident question
Generally, the car reversing is considered to blame in the absence of independent witnesses of one car is driving forwards and another is in reverse. For both cars reversing, in the absence of independent witnesses, it's probably going to be considered 50:50 blame. If your insurer is going to accept...

Re: first, and poor, experience with online service booking
It's lack of use that allows the seals to dry out, leading to refrigerant gas loss. If you use AC regularly, you can go many years without a regas. I always try to avoid saying "with all due respect" or "No offence, but..." because what comes after is someone saying you're wrong ...

I'd be more likely to pull you over on scenario 1 - taking and making calls while driving. :?: . I've just turned 25, and I drive a lot more for work. When driving business, I'm dressed in smart-casual clothes, and normally on calls , so from the outside I look relatively happy and harmless. ...

Re: Polo GTi + 207 hp
For the 6 box there also is ample room for increased power. Torque can be increased up to 450 Nm (mine) at least without any problem. It should be said it would also be wise to have the box remapped to. But I guess that goes as well for the 7 wet box. Yep, the wet boxes can handle large amounts of ...

Re: Polo GTi + 207 hp
Lovely thanks. Probably small changes then. I'd imagine the 7 speed box is smoother than 6. Do we even know which 7 speed box the facelift GTI will have? Dry clutch box like the smaller output cars have? If so, that'll be the highest output that box has ever been nated to at stock - definitely no c...
