Re: POLO GTI+ | Police Trouble

I bought my GTI when I was 22. I had similar experiences to yourself with police u-turns, pull-overs and rolling up next to me at traffic lights. The car itself doesn't seem to attract the attention. It's how the driver appears inside. Whether we like it or not, there's a stereotype that stands out...

Re: Arses being kicked at VW

Yes, late to the party in terms of a proper EV. The e-Golf was my pet hate, a bastardised ICE car and that goes for the e-UP as well. The Golf was abysmal (is it even still for sale?) Making a loss on every ID3 isn’t good, the more you sell the more money you lose. That seems to be the crux of the ...

Re: Arses being kicked at VW

They’ve got more than Tesla to worry about. Chinese EVs really are so impressive and build quality is improving quickly. I wouldn’t buy a current MG, they’re so dated to look at, but they’re impressive in terms of running gear/range and the next models look interesting. Looks like VW were just too ...

Elbow on the door button, I’m in.
Perfect.
Do your doors open automatically when your hands are full too, or do you have to put all that down to open the door?

Re: Arses being kicked at VW

I wouldn't touch Tesla with a bargepole - build quality is just awful - poorly applied paint, wonky doors, creaky interiors and exterior door handles that come off in your hands. They're still too expensive also. One of my mates got a Model 3 just over a year ago as a company car and is counting dow...

Re: 2018 onwards GTI any attempt theft issues?

VW are good at producing hot hatches you can live with every day there are more exciting hot hatches to fling around Halfords car park, but you wouldn't want to drive one 300 miles. There's always compromise, and a composed/refined ride is always going to be a bit dull when you try and going it arou...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95

That sounds brilliant. I've heard some people saying the car would.need a different clutch if I got it remapped. I know nothing about cars. I would go to Superchips for the remap and I always get my car serviced every year on time so hopefully that would help That sounds like the blurb remap compan...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95

Remap reliability is good if you go with a reputable company such as superchips (remap kings) or AMD tuning etc. The east engines are software limited is so they can bring out more power in the exact same engine in a newer model in the future to entice more buyers. The engines are designed to run i...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95

You could go for a higher mileage 30/40k with full service history for a bit cheaper if you don’t mind the extra miles as some lower mileage don’t always have dealer history and charge more. Remaps definitely are worth it too, especially the way how modern engines have turbos to get much more hidde...

Re: Michelin PS4's

No it doesn't stop you flooring it. But the car does not perform the same in drive as it does in sport or manual (if you have the right settings). If you floor it in any setting beyond the clicky bit of the pedal, you'll override the dulled throttle response of normal/eco and get full Sport throttl...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95

Thank you for the advice. I think I may test drive at 115 1 litre polo to see how I find it. I don't want to speed I just like to get up to speed really. I do love the GTI but it may be a bit to expensive for my budget. You might surprise yourself. The GTI+ has a higher RRP, but better residuals (%...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95

The GTI engine can be very economical if you don't drive like a nutter. Sat on the motorway maintaining 70/80mph will get you 53/45mpg on a decent run, and I rarely got under 35mpg. If you're going to remap a 1.0TSI, you might as well buy the 115ps unit and get a 6 speed manual or 7 speed DSG for be...

Private test track?

3 figures in a stone cold engine on a 3 mile journey home, uphill - I feel sorry for whoever bought that car next!

Re: Michelin PS4's

I thought you never took the GTI out of Drive Andy? 'D' doesn't stop you flooring it, you don't have to put it into 'S' or the stupid playstation mode to get performance. There weren't many days I wasn't well over three figures on my way home (via private test track) I'd still be doing it now if th...

Re: Michelin PS4's

I also got crappy Turanzas on the ID3s. They don't seem quite as bad, Jeez, it's like you experience the total opposite of me with tyres. :D I didn't any experience any lack of grip at all with the Bridgestones on the Polo, I doubt anyone else was pushing them any harder than I did seeing as it was...
