If there's no second dipstick in the engine bay, there should be a clear plug visible somewhere on the gearbox. ATF fluid is critical, best not to leave it unchecked.

The rear does not fit. It's way too narrow compared to the Polo's rear seats. You could fabricate fillups but I wouldn't bother. Go for Mk4 Golf seats instead, not easy either, but doable.

The front seats do not fit in without modifications either, btw.

Cool

Taking the bumper off is a bit of a chore, but at least you can see what you're doing.

In the UK some had drums, some had brakes. I believe the early ones had drums, but who knows.

Welcome!

It's a little too short, but It's hard to notice under my car's bra. I chopped some (not all) of the clips off, then fastened the lip to the bumper with short self-tapping screws. It takes a while, but it's worth it. I took the bumper off completely to make life easier. Having said that, the lip scr...

The price he quoted you sounds about right, they're expensive little buggers. I didn't know the light could have two colours btw. AFAIK, the light comes on after you turn the engine on and it should go out again. If it doesn't, there's a fault with the electronics (sensors, etc). When you speed up b...

ABS sensors can get dirty, making them seem faulty. If the problem persists, it's usually not dirt but an actual failure. A messed up ABS computer can give faulty sensor reports, but that's another matter.

Anything can be made to fit, but that's not what you want to know, I guess. Both combinations will give you grief. The 16" wheels will not fit (especially on the front) without major work. 9 inches is pretty darn wide. The 15" combo sounds more reasonable since the front wheels should go o...

Can't help you with the brakes question, but to answer your other question: The Porsche wheels have an ET of 53. The wheels you have now have an ET of 30. That leaves you 53 minus 30 equals 23 mm for an adapter, to get the new wheels to the same offset. 20mm is a common thickness for 5x100 to 5x130 ...

Good choice, I quite like cups on Mk4's. The size you're looking at should be fine, but if you go too low, there a chance you'll encounter some rubbing. If you're lowering it sensibly you should be fine.

Good eye. The speedo was one of the things that changed on 1998 models (and onwards). They aren't compatible unfortunately, so fitting a new speedo to an older car is hard, AFAIK. Don't know if the connectors are identical but I'm sure there are some gurus here that know.
