Re: Dash faults driving me mad!

What is the mileage of this car? One thing that can cause "functional" ABS sensors to hand out duff output signals is a failing wheel bearing - but I'd hope that that would only happen when there is significant free movement of a wheel/wheels or at least hubs. Any/all VW Group products can...

Re: Strange but brief engine cut out after 10 minutes

This sounds a lot like being an intermittent loss of 12V at some point in the car, maybe not easy to locate.

The easiest starting point might be running a full scale of all the controller modules to see anything/any clues appear - but not a definite route to success right away, good luck.

Re: Coolant Question

Yes that says it is same as G13, which probably means that it is based on the same BASF coolant additive.

I tend to stick with the latest VW Group offerings.

Re: Electrical fault red warning light

Did that garage carry out a proper health check on the battery - I'm suggesting that while it should not be the case, any/all car controllers can/will start to malfunction if their supply voltage is "lower than normal". Low ambient temperature may well have just high lighted that that batt...

Re: Tdi wheel caps?

My advice would be to make sure that you know the correct VW Group part number - that will be moulded onto the inner face of these centre caps, then make it a search item on ebay, and wait for some to turn up for sale looking okay and at a price you are willing to pay. Most of the "lookie-likie...

Re: Engine Mount Torque Specs

When I handed in my wife's 2015 6C Polo 1.2TSI to get its gearbox mounting "sorted out" while under warranty, the "VW guided pathway" when a customer handed their car in while under warranty for "drive train clunky/rubbery noises", step one was to remove the gearbox mou...

Re: Cold weather, engine runing rough

Yes, I just looked at your first posting and worked out that it would be roughly 150,000Kms by now. What other seals or gaskets did you need to buy for the intercooler, when I remove mine, I plan to drain down the coolant as it is G13 and remove the intercooler complete with the inlet manifold and s...

Re: Cold weather, engine runing rough

Not walnut shell blasting? What is the current Kms this car/engine has run from new? I don't know which catch tank works best. Edit:- you will be able to check that the HP fuel rail fixing bolts are torqued up correctly as that was a possible issue with this engine from new, plus you should buy new ...

Re: Anyone Replaced the Gear Stick Gaiter on Polo 6c

Now that you have mentioned that plastic ring, yes that was the same design of assembling/fixing the top of the gaiter on my wife's old 2002 9N Polo, I did manage to remove that ring intact - probably not a 2 minute job, and fitted it back on despite the new leather probably being thicker than the o...

Re: Anyone Replaced the Gear Stick Gaiter on Polo 6c

The older 2002 9N at least, had staples to fix the gaitor to the plastic part, I either reused the staples or used new ones in the original holes in the plastic, and closed/tightened them using pliers.

Re: Anyone Replaced the Gear Stick Gaiter on Polo 6c

My only helpful tip from doing that job on my wife's 2002 9N Polo back in maybe 2009, is, try not to destroy the original clip holding the gaitor to the knob as really is best to reuse it and not a Jubilee clip as some people did/do on that age of VW, "bits" stick out of a Jubilee clip and...

I’d think that gear changing actions will be under the control of the mechatonics unit, so very little you can do to sort that out.

Re: Sound from Heater

Sorry but I could not make it out - yes I remember that noise, at times, after we had been in bed for an hour or so, and our youngest daughter was downstairs on the internet, I used to terminate her session by lifting the bed side phone up and whistling into it, that worked every time and it followe...

Re: Finding the alternator sense wire on polo 9n3

When you remove that plug/socket, you should be able to clean it up and find its VW Group part number, that will allow you to buy in a new connector, you will also need to buy in a "repair wire" that is the correct size/gauge for that repair and one that has the correct connector pins on t...

Re: 6r and 6c GTI Gear Stick Gaiter Identical?

Rotten luck if VW have been fitting these cars with plastic/leatherette gaitors, I bought a new soft leather gaitor to replace the "plastic" gaitor on my wife's 2002 VW Polo 1.4 SE - then discovered that the original one was also leather, but not very supply leather - oh well! I applied lo...
