Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Rapid charging will affect the battery's long term life. So you wont notice it when the vehicle is relatively new, it's further down the ownership road the the damage will become apparent.

Re: Polo GTI Facelift Unveiled

I understood that the GTi would have a single exhaust each side, like the Golf GTi

Re: Wheel Hub Rust

One of thee first things I did after my wife picked up her GTi was to remove the wheels and sand and paint the hubs.
Also don't forget to put a smear of copper grease on the wheel mounting (not the clamp face of the flange) so you can get them off when you need to.

Thanks...
You'd think it would be in the handbook.

Does any one know the oil capacity of the GTi?

I've looked through the handbook, nowhere can I find the engines oil capacity with or without filter change. Does any one know?

Also I am unable to find what is required in the annual services. Makes it a bit difficult to understand what you get for your money.

Re: Incoming ban on 3D/4D plates

There is no legislation on the size of a number plate. If for instance you were lucky enough to have A1 then your plate can be very short and totally compliant with current legislation.

Re: Stop start and braking

I don't think it's an age thing. I think it's more to do with a huge increase in automatic cars on the road, combined with ridiculously bright LED brake lights. It is sadly an age thing, many people my age have problems with very bright lights. The muscles in your eyes are like all your muscles the...

Re: Stop start and braking

IMO sitting with your foot on the brake and dazzling the person behind with uber-bright LED brake lights is stupid. If your eyes are so light sensitive maybe you should see doctor because there is something wrong with your eyes. Or you're old............ you may be lucky enough to be old one day.

Not today but yesterday, spent at least four hours cleaning my wifes GTI, it looked stunning, but today she has to pop out to Aldi in the pouring rain.
Never mind...............

Re: Ceramic coating

I have Gtechniq crystal serum lite ceramic coating on my wifes car, I did it myself. Have now done around half a dozen cars with no problems and doesnt work out too expensive. So long as you take care and follow the instructions to the letter. There's also videos of how to do it on Youtube. Well wor...

Re: Adding a Turbo

Waste of money, huge cost, reduced reliability due to extra strain on the engine. Go buy the model you really want is the easiest and best way out of your problem.

^Steeve: Still running on the Bridgestones? Should've got rid ages ago. For the sake of £320 (minus what you'd get back for the Bridgestones) you're running a seriously compromised car. VWs decision to fit those is like UsainBolt being made to run in a pair of Dutch wooden clogs. The sad thing is, ...
