Re: Long Term Ownership.

I've yet to see an electric car that I liked except for the Model S / 3. Hopefully they look better in the future. Shows you how tastes differ, the M3 reminds me of a 1990s Chrysler Neon and I wouldn't have one because of it. Spot on! Good old Neon, I think they were all 3 speed auto? Some of the m...

Re: Loud tyre noise front wheel

Cheers thanks for the replies. It might just be my imagination, often you do imagine some things with cars but they are all slightly different - I noticed on this 2020 model slight differences to the 2018 spec. One being they have deleted the twin horns and replaced with a weedy single tone  S...

Not sure if it's just me but they look a bit ugly and bulky, like a jelly mould MPV. The Zoe or Leaf at least seem like a normal looking car, not trying too hard to be radical.

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?

THIS is what I'm talking about, at the front it's literally one inch to disaster, and yes, I DO have to breath in. Garage mods include: (unseen) strips of carpet glued to right side and end walls, bubble wrapped wrapped (!) on inside of up 'n' over door in case I let hatch open fully and (can be se...

Re: Long Term Ownership.

I've had electric before and really wanted to go electric again this time. But a combination of things, mostly involving daft workload due to covid, made me jump at an easy offer on the Gti from the dealer. I'm regretting it now, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. But it will, absolutely 100%, be ...

Re: Long Term Ownership.

This is probably the last few years of ICE cars as hybrids and full electric gradually take over so why not enjoy the end of the line and characteristics of a petrol engine whilst it is around? In ten years I expect the infrastructure and cars on offer to be more widely developed and mainstream, pet...

Re: SEL 1.0 TSI 95PS or 110PS?

I would go for the 110ps not worth the hassle of gambling on the 95 and finding it falls short. Little difference in economy, especially if you have to drive the 95ps one harder to compensate. Economy generally good as long as you drive gently, plenty of turbo use gets through petrol and MPG drops f...

Loud tyre noise front wheel

Hi Recently replaced the 2018 SE with a 2020 Match 95ps. It is fitted with standard 15 inch wheels, Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres. I've noticed there is lots of tyre roar on the motorway coming from the passenger side, it changes depending on the type of road surface. Very noisy, didn't notice this ...

Re: GTI 12/2018 Bonnet corrosion

The hole in the bonnet looks very jagged and not even, maybe some bare metal on the edges is starting to rust. The location is also vulnerable to road spray and salt anyhow. Just keep an eye on it and monitor. Anyhow according to your profile you have a manual transmission GTI which is a rare beast ...

Re: Testing driving Polo GTI+ tomorrow

I loved the test drive. The seat is noticeably less padded than the golf but my legs were comfortable. I put a deposit down. There were 3 Polo GTI’s - one got snatched up before I even arrived, the one I was test driving was sold literally as I was test driving it, so I decided to go ahead with it....

Re: Testing driving Polo GTI+ tomorrow

A few months ago I was debating on buying a 2019 Golf 1.0L Match or a 2019 Polo GTI+. I ended up choosing the Golf and regretted it ever since. I find it very uncomfortable to drive (it wasn't apparent during the test drive, just became more obvious over time), it's to the point where my legs and k...

Re: Leaking rear window?

Obvious question, but does it only happen when it's raining? If it happens even when it's not raining, then maybe it's condensation? These are the worst cars I've ever encountered for condensation, and the cold/damp weather now shows it up badly. For example, I can have to wait quite a few minutes ...

Re: Auto door lock - disable?

Thanks for the replies, it seems it is default on newer models. My options seem to be live with the auto locking or invest in the coding kit and alter the setting - https://www.ilexa.co.uk/shop/VCDS-HEX-V2-Ent3VIN

Auto door lock - disable?

Hi I recently swapped my 2018 SE for a new Match 70 plate. Some improvements on the old model and drives nicer, however I noticed that when driving the auto door lock activates at 10mph and then when you turn off the ignition it unlocks the doors. On the old model I could de-activate this on a menu ...

Re: 2021 Model Year Changes

I think @monkeyhanger is spot on regarding the interior. Auto Bild is the sister publication of Auto Express who have a reputation for producing some woefully inaccurate renders of mid life model refreshes and next generation models. The car in that video has new panel pressings for bonnet, wings, ...
