I don't see why it wouldn't. It's clearly a pattern part but that doesn't automatically mean that it's use-once-before-breaking....
Incidentally, the 6R switches work in the 9N3 and have the chrome detail. Maybe try looking for a salvage one of those?

Re: Farecla G3 Scratch Remover.
Are you sure that they're actually stone chips? They don't look it to me... is the paint surface actually broken? If you do indeed have some sort of paint protection film on there I'd be more inclined to think that it's something that got trapped underneath...

Re: foglights wiring
I wouldn't think too much about all these part numbers. You want one with the APV at the end - that refers to the chrome bit. The parts list section on here might be of some use. It's apparently the same system as on the Mk IV Golf and the Polo 9N3. The R32 guys have been swapping them for a while a...

Re: Coolant warning light
Put a bit more water in it and see what happens. Mine started doing that after its last service when it was cold and adding some more water sorted it.

Re: Air con compressor
I haven't done it myself, but it's run off the same belt as the alternator. Process looks to be: remove rubber pipe from the SMIC to the throttle body, remove the throttle body, untension the belt, remove belt and alternator, disconnect and remove compressor and then reverse it all to refit. Obvious...

Re: Finding a swiched live
Yeah, canbus is a pain. What you're doing is quite unconventional though, changing head unit would be much easier! You could get a canbus adapter to get the switched live and then use another adapter to convert it back to quadlock for the RCD200, but that's a pain. Maybe connect it to a constant liv...

Re: I can't get my front side grills out lol
Can you not use the wire hook for the wheel trims to slide into those slats and pull them off? Is that the coat hanger thing? Maybe get a trim removal tool (plastic lever type things) and see if you can get one between the paint and the plastic? If it's being difficult and you're replacing them anyw...

Re: Rear bumper
Christ, you got off lightly compared to him! They're surprisingly tough in rear end shunts... Gutted for your mate though.
I believe replacement bumpers come in primer. You might be able to salvage the lower valance though if it's not too badly scratched...

Re: Candy White 1.2 TSI --- Window Tint Problem? * *
You could always just remove them from the front windows. Don't the rules say that you can have whatever you want on the back but the fronts need to be clear enough to allow you to actually see out?

Re: Active sub into stock headunit
There isn't actually a switched live source into the back of the RCD200. There's a constant live and two pins for the canbus. The canbus is what actually controls the switching on and off with the ignition. You're probably better off using something like the cigarette lighter for the switched live. ...

Re: 9N3 GTi alternator?
Two points of warning on this. One, it's a bit of a pig of a job to get an alternator off when it's badly corroded. Two, if using a new replacement, the pulley wheel needs to be swapped over using one of those multi point bits (not torx) that few people without a professional set of tools actually h...

Re: 9N3 GTi alternator?
Really? Christ, I've just paid £302 including VAT for mine. I normally go to a guy I know in a dealers that gives me trade prices on parts but it's a huge effort getting there without a car so I went to my local dealer who's basically within walking distance. There's also a refundable surcharge of £...

Re: 9N3 GTi alternator?
It was on mine. Apparently there are two options, Bosch and Valeo, which were fitted. And you can't check which one it is from the chassis number... Pretty much the same price regardless though.

Re: 9N3 GTi alternator?
This happened on mine so someone I work with knows who works on alternators and starter motors and they tested it for me and turns out it was just the diode pack and cost me 30 at mates rates so its worth a try Yeah, I saw your thread and was hoping that it was a similar problem on mine! Unfortunat...

9N3 GTi alternator?
So it seems that my alternator has died this morning and so I'm looking at replacing it. My local dealer parts department are saying that there are two options - the genuine VW branded one or a Bosch one which costs a fair amount less. I was always under the impression that most of the electrical co...
