If you have a mute button bottom left of screen then CarPlay is not compatible and cannot be added (unfortunately). I'm in same boat

The mute button is the giveaway as to version of head unit, and the ones with a mute button cannot have CarPlay applied

I can agree with the effectiveness of GTech G1. My Polo glass is also coated with it. Not cheap, but it is long lasting.

Most likely camshaft to valve clearances. They get lubricated once the engine is running and tighten as the engine warms up, so will quiten down.

Could the noise be coming from the DSG box?

I wouldn't mention that you can hear the noise in the loan car. That would be VW's cue to suggest that what you're hearing is normal and to dismiss any claim for a replacement.

Mine's protected with SiRamik HR, and gets a weekly wash. Not had a problem with carbon build up. I generally use the cheapest available Shell petrol.
