Re: shocked at my gti car insurance increase

Same issue here. Was paying £400 (lot of extras and very low voluntary) and they now want £680. Tried comparison sites and best was £650. Tried direct with those “not on comparison sites” companies and it was £1000 plus. Not had an accident, no tickets, no changes, already at max no claims (most sto...

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?

I’ve had two facelift gtis (don’t ask) and both do this. I believe it was a change to help economy.

Re: Cost of replacing a cam belt has just risen by 50%

A colleague of mine just paid £350 for his Mazda 3s second service. What was interesting is the brakes were changed as part of the service routine…. I would have expected brakes to last longer than 2 years at 20k miles.

Re: R Line seats - Opinions?

My wife has the facelift r line and loves it, no aches or pains at all. I’m the same in my gti. Think maybe we got luck with our setups quickly.

My only issue is I need a little lumbar support now but that’s my back.

Re: Cost of replacing a cam belt has just risen by 50%

Well the salesman’s reasoning for an a3 s-line 1.6 tdi costing as much as a golf gtd back in 2016 was because “it’s an Audi”. So I’m betting £1500 plus as “it’s an Audi”.

He wasn’t best impressed as I walked out the showroom pointing out it was a Skoda underneath

Re: Cost of replacing a cam belt has just risen by 50%

I got my servicing free with the car. Yes it’s bad VW have put prices up but they’re nowhere near premium - my mate pays £350 minor and £480 major for his Volvo. Audi are similar according to my brother in law and that’s just a VW with a posh frock on.

How old is your polo? I wouldn’t be taking my car to a main dealer unless it was to maintain a warranty. If you’ve not got an extended warranty to keep I’d be looking for a good back street garage.

Re: Disable bluetooth when using Android Auto?

If you have the latest facelifted polo, then you don’t need to use a cable anymore. At least that’s how Car Play now works, it’s wireless over Bluetooth. I’d assume Android Auto would be the same. I prefer this as it means no longer reducing the battery life of your phone having your phone plugged i...

Re: polo gti road feedback through steering wheel?

Ford have always made good hot hatches. They always had two issues:-

1. Uncomfortable ride.
2. Very easy to steal.

Even the current st is meant to be a doddle to steal. Ford never got a handle on car security.

Re: polo gti road feedback through steering wheel?

@SRGTD the only problem was the fiesta ST was/is massively more uncomfortable than the polo gti. I don’t find mine any different to other VWs I’ve owned.

Re: Lane departure

It is indeed a complete PITA having to switch it off every time you hit the start button. Can cause more trouble than it's worth. Please VW just let us drive the car. Followed by the very annoying NAV display being the default start screen. Not sure what’s going on with your car, but the nav displa...

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?

I said this when I got my gti and my wife her r line in the facelift. The car seems better quality, the doors feel less hollow, the ride is a bit nicer, etc.

Re: Lane departure

If you turn it off when the car is switched on (button on end of left stalk followed by ok) it stays off unless you either turn it back on or you enable traffic assist.

Re: Any one ordered the new facelift GTI?

Hi all, Been following the forums for a while and finally took delivery of my new GTI a few days ago. I was really chuffed as did a factory order in Jan so came through really quick. I went for white with black roof pack and the bigger wheels. I kept the red dash and must admit despite it being a m...

Re: More tyre pressure monitor problems

I’ve usually had tpms triggers when the weather has changed. So if I set the tyre pressure in warmer weather in late summer and then it’s gone cold for example. The tpms must think the tyre has not got up to expected pressure for the temperature and triggers. Every time I’ve got out to check, the ty...
