Re: Folding back bench seats down

VW did change the design of the folding mechanism for the Polo’s rear seats in the current model car; the rear seat cushions are fixed in place and no longer fold up vertically behind the front seats. The back seat backrest doesn’t lie completely flat when it’s folded because it folds onto the seat ...

Re: High Idle/ Rough engine

Hey very late reply to this but I think my car is going through a forced regen at the moment, same as this guy idling at about 1400 and the gear indicator is telling me to downshift when it said it wouldn't usually (e.g. 3>2 at 40km/h). I'm wondering if it is a regen because although it's idling hi...

Re: Buying advice

Thanks all for the replys, so at mo I'm looking at a 2021-22 special edition Gti +. Not sure what it means by special edition? Maybe referring to it as a special edition car is a purely a marketing / sales tactic to sell the car. There was a recent discussion on the Golf GTI forum on the ‘launch ed...

Re: Disabling the Alarm for ferry crossing

Should be under ‘Safelock’ in the owner’s manual.

Re: How can I fix this?

I was aware that it’s now ‘normal’ for VW dealers to charge a diagnostic fee, but £225 sounds pretty steep for what probably amounts to just plugging a diagnostic reader into your car, even for London labour rates (I see your location is shown as London). The diagnostic fee should be the labour char...

Re: How can I fix this?

I’d let the dealer scan the car for fault codes which should help them narrow down or pinpoint the cause(s) of your car’s issues.

Is your car still under warranty?

Re: New Polo GTI Query

Have to say SRGTD I’m incredibly happy with my Mazda. So far hasn’t put a foot wrong. I had a lot of VWs and there was always something with every car - usually minor and liveable with but sometimes major. Touchwood the Mazda has been bullet proof, everything works well and the fit and finish is lo...

Re: New Polo GTI Query

I had a gti plus as well prior to the facelift but never took it on any long journeys so couldn’t comment on the difference there. All I know is it was the final nail for the gti as my wife then said we need a new car. Some days I miss the speed and the fact I owned a gti, but now having actual phy...

Re: New Polo GTI Query

I have a 2020 pre-facelift GTI+. I dislike the fake engine noise so have had the soundaktor set to ‘Eco’ from day one of owning my car (I use the ‘Individual’ driving profile mode, so I can customise the setting to my preference). As for excessive cabin noise - like @OomStu_ZA, no problems with my c...

Re: Buying advice

Yes the ride gets firmer in sport mode to the point that I set the settings in individual mode as sport bar the ride and exhaust noise. The fake speaker noise was annoying in sport mode. The ‘sport’ suspension setting is far too firm for me too. I also dislike the soundaktor’s fake engine noise, so...

Re: Buying advice

Thanks all will keep all that in mind, tyres well Same as what I got on the one I own. With the auto I was told some time ago that the shocks go from soft to hard if put in to sport mode? Manual never had that. Insurance wise well last year my insurance went up 200 from 350 to 550 for the year for ...

Re: Buying advice

A bit of a brain dump below, so apologies for the very long post. I don’t have a facelift version of the current Polo GTI but I also came from a 2016 6C Polo GTI 6 speed manual to my current car which is a pre-facelift 2020 Polo GTI+ that I’ve owned from new since September 2020. IMHO the build qual...

Re: Coolant Question

Thanks @RUM4MO, will give VW a ring and see what can be bought over the shelf. @SRGTD - Thanks mate, hope you're well! It's an interesting one as I've had issues with the coolant in the past (have posted about it here), a couple of years back I had what I thought was a leak. Could quite clearly see...

Re: Coolant Question

Hi @S_94. Good to see you back. A low coolant level might indicate an issue with your car’s water pump and / or thermostat housing - a weak point on VAG’s EA888 2.0 litre engine. I don’t know if the Gen 3b version of this engine as fitted in the Polo GTI suffers from water pump / thermostat housing ...

Re: Dash faults driving me mad!

The car is 2019 and I’m the 2nd owner so not sure what situation the means where the warranty is concerned. Thanks for your response and the warranty like. I’ll take a look. Thanks again 👍 In the UK, if a VW car is sold during the first three years / before expiry of the factory warranty, then the ...
