MK3 1.4l 1998 Variant 6KV - idiots guide for basic service tips needed

Post by Chris_G »

Can any one please help me? First car but want to do a basic service it myself.
What make/spec of oil & air filters do I need? Same for spark plugs. Can anyone tell me which spark-plug change tools I'll need.
Also, I'm going to get a torque wrench - what size will fit the wheel nuts?
Should I change the spark plug leads and if so which ones fit?
Help!

Go to your local motor factors and ask them for an oil filter, air filter and spark plugs to match your car (somewhere like GSF or Euro Car Parts)

17mm socket to undo the wheels
Spark plug socket (large) to change the spark plugs.
Torque wrench youll need one that can go over 120nm of torque

Oil is 10W40 semi synthetic, again from your local motor factors or halfords or online.

Spark plug leads only need replacing if they are worn out or damaged, but again your local motor factors can supply
