More dashboard lights (updated)

Post by slowpoloauto »

The engine check and EPC has just lit up.
Tried the button hold and ignition combo and that doesn't work.
Any ideas? It's a 1.4 16v petrol.

The engine check light in continuously lit. Any ideas?
Whatever it is, it cut the engine. Luckily I was crawling along in a car park.
The light will not go out after doing the button-ignition combo.

I had that problem with mine I believe, is it the yellow light that looks almost like a gearbox with a lightning bolt through it? If it is have you tried cleaning out the egr valve?

Actually, when the engine is lit up and so is the EPC, check the oil level!
Although the dip stick said I had enough oil, it didn't. Put some in and both lights went off.
This is the second time it has done this!

Just bought a 2001 polo. Drive 60 miles with it and the temperature light came on, temp gauge was fine and in the middle, engine wasn't over heated either. It wasn't on the next day. Next. The engine light came on with the epc light. Still the car ran fine. Question is, what's going on. Any ideas?

The last time something like this happened on our car, we were taking a very slight left hander and the whole car died. It restarted and never did it since but had done it from new.
As for the lights, my mechanic says it's the lamda/lambda sensor thing. He can't be arsed to change it.
Saying that, when we had lights issues, turned out the cam belt neededing replacing as the timing was off and promptly rearranged half the valve count.
Even the damn code reader wasn't telling the truth about the issues.

We had the EPC light on when bought ours recently.. it had suffered a mixture on 2 cylinders.. manly due to damp..
Replaced the plugs. Plugged in the diagnostic tool I have . It showed the misfire issues. So reset via diagnostic.
The light is now out. We only have the flashing brake symbol on the dash that's annoying now.
Hope this helps ....
