6N2 Engine/Gearbox swap

Post by Jack_swinscoe »

Basically just picked up an Xreg 6N2 1L mpi, and 4th gear blew itself up at 30mph. Im able to buy a 1.2l polo 9n engine and gearbox but am wondering if they will fit without too much modification. :?:

Simple answer is no. The 9N is a completely different management system and uses canbus unlike the 6N2

You need either a 6N or a 6N2 box. Ideally the same engine size too or the ratios will be out

Hi Baldguy. I've just registered. We would appear to be similarly challenged going by our usernames!
The Polo you mention in your post. Is this still available please?

If out of this engine swap you happen to have a spare gearbox I'm here waiting :)
As cheap or free as possible.
