Hi it’s my first post so bear with me .
I have a 1.4 Polo year 2000 and have recently had a flat battery . After getting a jump start my central locking doesn’t work. All the lights on it flash but nothing happens to the car. It is a separate remote with an ordinary key. Do I have to reprogramme the remote ? If so how do I do it ?.
Second question.... can I buy a key fob and programme it to my car ? Have been looking at them on right click.com.

Re: Central locking problem after flat battery
Sounds like you have an after market remote central locking system
Easiest option is probably to replace it with an rclick kit but you will need to remove the old kit if you go down this route
Is the central locking working if you lock the drivers door with the key?

No the key just goes around . Only the boot unlocks with the key. The lights on the remote light up when you press it but nothing happens. It only started doing it after the battery ran down. At the moment I am leaving the car unlocked but need to start locking it .

Sounds like the paddle in your door lock is broken. You can get a repair kit from the dealer for under a tenner for each door
Can you lock it on the central locking switch on the drivers door if sat in the car?

I haven’t tried that Alex but will do. Thanks.Do you know if there is a way to reset this type of remote ? It does seem odd that it happened after a flat battery or just a sheer coincidence.

Those kind of remotes generally don’t go out of sync
It’s more likely a problem with the central locking pump. A fuse could have easily blown
