Post by robz »

hey all,

I no theres been a good few posts about who every1 is insured with but im having a dilema jst now.

I need 2 insure my new '91 GT with alloys, exhaust lowered susp but as i now have a pending insurance claim my old company (Admiral) dont wanna insure me. So all the quotes ive had have been outrageous! b4 the crash i was paying £600 fully comp, now the cheapest ive come is £1500! WTF!

So im looking for any who has had a claim against them thats got a decent insurance comp 2 try?

Cheers Robz! :D

yeah they were always one of the best of modifications, but apparently people have been getting silly renewal quotes through now & people trying to get new quotes have been told they don't like modifications anymore.

I suppose they must think it's not making them money anymore

I jst went on LV this is wot it said:
Motor Insurance - Quote & Buy Online

We cannot insure:
Motor cycles, vans, pick ups, minibuses.

Cars which have not been manufactured for the UK market e.g. Japanese imports.

Cars which have performance enhancing modifications.

Cars which are used abroad for more than 180 consecutive days.

Cars which are in excess of £100,000 in value.

Cars that are registered and normally kept outside of mainland United Kingdom,
the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Drivers outside the age range of 17 and 79.

so.........

id say no,
but
they could just as easily shaft you by saying it is a modification to make the car handle better (ie minimising drag) therefore increasing its performance

I know I'm an outkast here being one of the UKMKIV lot, but was just having a look around this lovely establishment!

Try Adrian Flux insurance or Egg, I've never been able to beat those two. Adrian Flux is better with the mods.

I've heard Adrian Flux to be pretty good, plus they're one of only a few insurers who will quote for cars equipped with NOS

I'm with Direct Line but have no modifications at the moment, for which they tell me I have to be over 25 :?
