So, when you sell a car, you can no longer sell it with tax still on it, because it will automatically get refunded. So a new owner will always have to get new tax. Am I right?

It's a way to make more money, that's what it is. People are gonna get caught out I think. Plus it's going to be annoying to have to spend that bit more money to tax a car just after you have bought it.

Pro's and cons really

If youve just taxed your car, then suddenly have to sell it, i guess getting a refund isnt a bad thing

But for the person buying it, that could be a £250+ tax requirement theyve gotta fork out for

You'd think that ultimately, the vehicle price would reflect this though.

I only found out this was going to happen because I asked a company for a price on a nice stainless steel tax disc holder (used before for my previous car) to be told there was probably no point as from October I don't need to display one!

To think that in ten years time children will ask, what's a tax disk holder? No more free ones given out by insurance company's or service garages. Guess they will just have to give us air fresheners instead

So long as they don't hang them on the rear view mirror as that's illegal...my pet hate is also when they put dealer stickers on the rear view window smack bang in your eye line when you look through the rear view mirror.
