EGR valve

When should the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve operate?

When the engine is hot, cold or as required?

I have a 1.4 16v

Okay, next question - any ideas why mine doesnt work then?

When i have the vacuum hose connected to the EGR valve; as the engine gets to running temperature, it cant hold idle and stalls.

If i disconnect the vacuum hose the car runs ok(ish)

Which temp sensor, if any, does the EGR valve take a reading from?

Are you still having problems with this ?. Maybe you do need that solenoid which operates the valve ?.
