Hi everyone,
I am new to all of this forum business although I do read topics on here a fair bit. The problem I am having is that the car seems to be hunting up and down the revs on idol and misfires in slow moving traffic. On a few occasions, the whole thing has cut out completely and then struggles to get going again which is very annoying.
This also has lead to a dramatic drop in my fuel consumption (240 miles from a full tank )
Has anyone heard of anything similar before and/or could give me any advice as to what might be the cause?
Any advice/ help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Re: 6n2 Polo 1.4 16v engine problems
Welcome
First port of call is clean the throttle body with a carb/intake cleaner spray
Check the brake servo hose for splits also
Check the crankcase breather hose is clean
Check the airfilter is clean
Check when the fuel filter was last replaced.
It's possible you also have a fault with the front lambda sensor as this ultimately decides the air to fuel mix and can be responsible for serious over fuelling.

Hi Alex,
I did what you said and bought some throttle body cleaner called Normfest, cleaned the throttle body up. It didn't like it at first but now runs 10 times better than it did before.
So thanks for the advice.
