What's wrong?

Post by ciden »

Guys, a friend of mine's dad has a 2001 Caddy 1.6 (carburator model) with on 11200 miles on the clock, and still under waranty. The problem with the engine is, it sucks oil into the air cleaner, and then drips on to the manifold. The dealership says it's normal for a 1.6 (carburator) engine. Can it be? (the engine is of a former generation that powers our MKI Golfs and Caddie's - still in production in SA).

I've just spoken to JBS Auto Designs who advise that a little oil could be sucked into the air filter and it could drip down. Although they did advise that it shouldn't be a lot, only drips.

Hope this Helps...

Could be problems with the oil breather

The thing is, it isn't just a little amount of oil...but a lot. He's already had to change the air filter 3 times in 2 years...and that cannot be normal!
