Got some wheels I'm refurbing, was told etch primer would be ok so I primed the whole wheel with etch only to read on the net that spraying etch over an already painted surface was a no no.
The etch seems to have taken really well but I don't want to start spraying the basecoat if its just gonna start shelling off months down the line. Should I strip the etch off and use some filler primer or just spray over the etch with some filler primer?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm new to this spraying malarky.
after some ill advice, what to do next(spraying)

Etch primmer over paint is fine... If you have just sprayed etch alone then yeah thats wrong...
If you can't pick it off with your nail and you can flat it down without it becoming all nasty then rub it down and dust over your colour no problem....
