Hi all.
I imagine this is quite simple, but I just can't find the answer anywhere...
On my 98 Polo, aside from the 4 speaker wires, I have four wires for the stereo.
These are:
Red
Brown
Red / Brown
Blue / White.
Could anyone tell me which is which, please ( I'm just about to fit a new stereo, and don't fancy the 'trial and error' approach)
Many thanks in advance.

I'm sure there was 8 speaker wires in my mk4 Polo. 4 for the dash board speakers & 4 for the door pod speakers.
Red will be live, blue & white will be the remote wire (for amps, electric aerials etc...). t'others sound like more speaker wires.
A haynes manual has it all in the wiring diagrams in the back. unfortunately mine is at home & I'm at work at the moment.

I think...
Ok - there are two blocks of wires. One block contains the speaker wires, so I can discount them.
The second block, which has the wires in as above, are for power, etc.
I suspect that they are...
red / brown - permanent 12V ( memory )
brown - ground
red - ignition 12v ( switch )
blue / white - illumination
Is this correct, anyone?
