Iphone 5 in my 2010 Polo

Post by callumbagshaw »

Hi all,
I've searched around but can't find anything here on this...
I paid extra when I bought my 2010 Polo to get an ipod/iphone cable wired into the head unit.
This worked great with my iphone 4, but since I upgraded to an iphone 5, of course the connection is different!
I've tried several adapters etc on the current cable but they won't work...

Haven't took the head unit out in a while, does anyone know if it's just a USB connection into the back of the head unit? That would make the fix too easy though I suppose...

If anyone knows of a solution which doesn't involve me going to the VW dealer and paying some ridiculous price for a new cable for iphone 5 please let me know!
Thanks a lot,
Cal.

Where does the cable go? Is it In the glovebox? Have you used an official apple adapter?

Where from, how much, and how difficult was it to install!?

The cable, I assume, is an official apple cable. It's the same one I had installed when I bought the car brand new, so VW fitted it. And yes, it's in my glove box.
Thanks :)

custom made holder. I just plug in the original lightning cable, and it will stay behind the dash straight to the 12v charger area below for charging.

since the lightning cable can hold and grip the iPhone strongly, it will stay there perfectly vertical for GPS view, charging (with aircond behind to cool down during charging) and the height allows you to record the camera view infront while driving as well.
