Polo gti 63 plate not starting

Hi,I am a newbie to driving and am looking for help with my polo gti 63 reg.We just drove it 4 miles from the garage after purchase and when we were sitting in it outside our house playing a cd for my daughter all the electrics seemed to stop and I couldn't eject the cd. After trying to restart the engine all I'm getting is a clicking sound and the dashboard lights flickering. Please help as I have no idea about car electrics/computers. Thanks,William.
