Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
Owned the car since Novemeber 2011, it stayed pretty standard until the end of last year where i decided to give it the classic coilover/wheel treatment. I found a nice set of BBS LM reps that i thought would look quite good.
heres a pic of them fitted
soon after that the turbo went!
so i decided to upgrade it with a hybrid, at the same time i blanked out the egr and changed the intercooler pipework a bit!
pic of turbo and how the bay looks just now
i also fitted a boost gauge to keep and eye on the new turbo
The car stayed like this for a while. Ive always like the 9n3 front but being a student, buying a 9n3 and insuring is wasnt really possible, so i decided to do a 9n3 conversion on the front
here a half way pic!
AND done.
Only took me around 4/5 hours from wheels off to wheels on, which i though was not bad!
just needed the grilles to finish it off.
While i was waiting for the grilles, my PCD adaptors had came so i could fit my fittipaldis i had bought a while back.
After lots of faffing about trying to find bolts that would work, this was the outcome
Then the grilles arrived! so got them fitted up.
Only have the front two Fittipaldis fitted as the spacers took up a bit too much time! will sort that out tomorrow:)
The car will also be lowered to suit the new wheels.
The wheels will also be refurbed in a new colour scheme when i can afford it. thinking black centres/gold dishes but unsure!
I have a forge front mount intercooler that will be going on this weekend, along with a good clean!!
Have a few plans for the car in the future just need some cash.
thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed:D
Oh and will be changing the 'GTI' for 'GTD' soon as:)
Comments/critisism welcome

Awesome job! Few people go through with a 9n to 9n3 conversion once they see the work involved. You went one further and did a 9n to 9n3 Gti conversion Kudos.
Turbo porn You must be running close to 200bhp with that beast
Nice work mate.

Thanks mate! To be honest when I was half way I start to question what I had done haha. But went well.
Once intercooler is on and I get a decent map ill hopefully be fairly close to 200!:)

Sweet, which cooler did you get?
Re: Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
Forge mate, was going to get a seat sport one as I hear they are better but a forge one came up at a price I couldn't pass, and just making my own pipe work
Re: Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
I wish my engine bay was as clean as yours!
Great work on the front end conversion, looks spot on

Awesome work, really transformed the look of the car. Big respect for actually going through with it! Sounds as though she'll be a keeper what with the amount of work that's been put in.
Re: Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
Cheers for the comments guys!! Glad people are appreciating my work:)
Gave her a bit of a clean today along with getting all 4 Fitipaldis on. Back sits perfect, just need to sort out the front now! Few pics to drool over;) hope you like them!

Small update, front mount now, fitted but not pipes up yet. Awaiting on a map boss pipe from darkside. Will get a few more pics up when this arrives tomorrow! Had to make my own mounts etc as I bought the core without crash bar!
I've been thinking about a new clutch, for when I get it mapped. Any recommendations? I do plan for more power in future, bigger turbo etc. torque will be fairly, high after a map too...?

Good work on the self made mounts cant beat a bit of DIY!
I can recommend the Sachs SRE and SMF from Darkside. Quieter than the supposedly silent (not even close) Southbend. Itl easily take hybrid power and more. Heavier pedal than the Southbend but a very good bit of kit.

Cheers for that mate! Was just reading your thread on here. Well played. Shame about the problems your having though! Good luck.
Having problems myself, either the Intercooler or MAP pipe is leaking:( still had all the power and go? Just a high pitch scream when on boost. Will hopefully get the cooler tested next week and see what's what!!

Re: Polo 9N GT, now 9n3!
Think I've sorted the leak problem now, driveshaft has been rubbing on one of the intercooler pipes, and has worn a small hole. Replaced now. Sorted suspension this weekend also. Slightly lower at the from now.
Clean engine pic..
Also been thinking about changing the color scheme on the wheels.. This combo really caught my eye..
Anyone got any ideas/opinions? Finally got myself a job so the spending can begin:D
