My 1.4 6N CL

Post by Tarmacmuncher »

Hi everyone

Thought I would make a thread for my Polo considering what started off as a replacement for a stolen scooter has grown on me somewhat

2 Previous owners, 78000 miles on the clock, a year's worth of MOT all for the pricely sum of £470.

However little did I know untill I got home and it got dark that there was a red flashing, hidden within the clocks before my eyes. On closer inspection, it became aware to me that this flashing was the oil light !!

Well enough of the theatricals, it appeared that the light has been covered or coloured in so that it wasn't noticeable. Oil levels are fine and so far have driven 350 miles and she seems sound, so this weekend we will investigate with a pressure gauge.

Well so far I have been trawling through the forum reading, and have came across numerous things which have sparked the bug for me to do some simple mods while I'm waiting for the time/money to get the mechanical side of things tickity boo.

So thought I would start off with the simple task of debadging the boot 8)

Before:

During:

Simply use dental floss to saw between the adhesive and the badge, the clean off the remaining residue with soapy water or white spirit.

Then it's just a case of T cutting to try and blend the unfaded paint from underneath the badges.

After:

Next on the list is door strips, and investigate the loose drivers side electric window which seems to be closing slower and slower each time...
