where do you people get all your parts from

ive seen some really nice parts on some polos that people have done up. be it bumpers or arches, ive seen things like custom speedo clusters. im really lost as to where you get these parts from as from a search on the internet i cant seem to find any, i can understand you can get custom exhausts made but as i am new to owning a polo im a bit lost and im not really sure where to look. 
do they have to be polo specific? or can i get certain things froma golf to fit too?
