The "Fun" returns!

Post by dxg »

This story's as the title, really. The Fun returns to the 9N3 line up.

I personally loved the Fun, even though sales were slow.

Here's the PR:
VOLKSWAGEN REVEALS FIRST PICTURES OF NEW POLO DUNE

Volkswagen has released the first images of the new Polo Dune, ahead of its UK launch in spring, 2006. The new addition to the Polo range combines the appeal of a 4x4’s appearance, with the agile handling, high quality and compact proportions for which Volkswagen’s supermini is renowned.

The Dune’s distinctive appearance is due to its specific styling, which includes: 17" ‘BBS’ alloy wheels; unique front and rear bumpers; side and wheel-arch protection; and silver-coloured roof rails and door mirrors, with integrated indicators. Available in 5-door guise only, the Dune has raised suspension as standard, enabling better visibility and ease of access.

Individual styling continues inside the Dune, with chrome-plated instrument surrounds, aluminium-look pedals, front sports seats, and a leather trimmed steering wheel and handbrake grip.

Featuring a high level of standard specification, the Dune’s comprehensive list of equipment includes: semi-automatic climatic control; electric windows, front and rear; multifunction computer; radio/MP3 compatible CD player; front fog lights; and electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors.

The Polo Dune will be available with a choice of two established Euro 4-compliant Volkswagen engines, a 1.4-litre 75 PS petrol unit, or a 1.4-litre 70 PS diesel, which features unit injector technology and variable geometry turbocharging.

The Polo is one of the safest cars in its sector, and the Dune is no exception. Every Polo Dune has ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), driver’s and front passenger’s airbags, front side airbags and a flat-tyre indicator fitted as standard.

UK pricing will be confirmed nearer to the new model’s UK launch in spring 2006, but is anticipated to start at approximately £12,645 on the road.

i like the look of the old one, and this, to me, is even nicer! its a shame about the engines really, would be nice to of seen it with at least a 1.9tdi 130bhp lump. it would also be nice if it was actually four wheel drive.

but still, lovely looking polo, will be very interesting to see if they get modded up and a 20vT lump installed!
