bent in wheel problem. HELPPPPP

Post by rogue8755 »

Afternoon chaps.

I have a Polo 9n3 on an 09 plate. It's a 1.2 5 speed Match. Anyway cut a long story short someone drove into me causing the osf wheel to bend inwards at the top.

It snapped the spring so I changed the shocker complete for a decent second hand one. Put a new wishbone on and drop link arm while I was there as the bushes looked old.

Anyway, I put it all back together and it's still the same !! Wheel bent in at the top and tyre rubbing against the shock.

I have checked everything else and it all looks sound. No movement in sub frame, steering arm is straight and the track rod end doesn't look bent, shaft looks ok, and as I said the wishbone and shocker has been changed so what could it be??? I can't see any damage to the hub and to be honest I really can't see a cast hub bending??

So, it sounds like the hub assembly is bent as that is all that is left other than the car frame?

Edit:- I'm guessing that you fitted another second hand wishbone assembly complete with its second hand lower swivel assembly, if not maybe the lower swivel assembly is also bent.

Have you had the tracking and camber checked since?

There is no camber adjustment like as the 6N Polos so if the wheel is touching the upright/damper, then I’d reckon some thing else is bent/damaged
