Hi, I have a 2005 9n3 polo that runs lumpy once warmed up, i've put vag com on it and it has come up with p1443 (potentiometer for exhaust gas recirculation signal too low) its a 1.2 6v bmd engine, and as far as i know it doesn't have an egr valve so i'm a bit confused.
Can anyone shed any light on this
Thanks Ben

Re: Polo confusing fault code
Maybe dig a bit deeper, ECP website does list that engine in its application for EGR valves, though that might not be true.
Seeing is believing?
Edit:- used up to 6/2005 VIN To 9N-6-210 000

Re: Polo confusing fault code
I’m almost certain it has an EGR valve. VW have been using them since 2000 on the 6N2 polo onwards
Re: Polo confusing fault code
Do you have a picture of where it is at all ? As I’ve just had the head off and re built it and didn’t see one ?
I know some of the 12 valve engines have them, but thought the 6 valves don’t
Thanks Ben

Re: Polo confusing fault code
Just checked ETKA. The BMD is one of the only engine codes that doesn’t have an EGR. All the other 1.2 6Vs do however.
Not entirely sure thats right in this case though. Let me check further
Has it had a new engine fitted?
