Power for Rear dash cam

Want 12 power for a rear facing dash cam. How would 12 power normally be obtained for the rear?
Thought I might get the boot light to stay on (somehow) and use the 12v from the light for the camera. Is the boot light operated by a micro switch in the hatch lock, or a switch elsewhere ?
